The City After the Rain, Oil on canvas, 11 x 14"

The City After the Rain, Oil on canvas, 11 x 14"
Happy Mother's Day!

Yesterday I decided to go in my studio and play. My only intention was to play with colors and a palette knife. I tried different strokes, color mixing,etc... and at some point I wanted to use whatever paint was left on my palette and quit. Then I realized I could be on to something. Not sure what it was, but I like it enough to put more paint on my palette and continue. I think by then I could see something like a city street taking shape...

I had momentum, I liked what was going on, it was exciting and I didn't want to stop just yet. A few minutes later when I started to slow down and wasn't "improving the painting" or making "good decisions" I decided to step back for a last look. I thought I might like this painting enough to frame it... So I stretched the edges to make it a standard size and quit.

Do you like this painting? or am I biased by the way I felt while painting it?

I love this painting. And I love the name of it. It was also fun reading about your excitement while you were working on it. I hope you keep doing abstracts.
