Plein air at Pelton Pond

I recently joined the Lower Hudson Valley Plein Air Painting (LHVPAP) group. This is great. Besides improving my painting skills, it will allow me to get to know my surroundings and to paint with other people of the area with similar interests.

Here's a small plein air painting I did at the Pelton Pond with some members of the LHVPAP. I had forgotten my mineral spirits to clean my brushes, so I took the palette knife. It's a lot of greens, but I like it!

Here's my setup. You can see the view to the right that inspired my painting.

Green is good! I like this. And I am glad to see that you are doing more plein air.

I really like this, Johanne. The blue ripples across the pond are a great detail. I've never painted plein air, but it's something I hope to do sometime. It looks like you have a great area to paint in.

This is lovely. You may meet up with Jamie Williams Grossman in the LVHPAP. We have sketched together for several years on the Scavenger Hunts on wet canvas. Say hi for me when you do!

Thanks BJ. Beside painting, plein air allows me to be outside, to get to know the area, meet people,... it's a good thing.

Virginia, you have to give plein air a trial... you don't need to go far. You start in your backyard or neighborhood park. But you need to do it early in the morning :-)

Thanks Jo. When I read your comment (yesterday at lunch) I was sitting beside Jamie. I had met her earlier in the morning for a paint out. She says hi to you too! What a timing.
